A long range shielded capacitive sensor is mounted closely to the plastic bottle packages on the conveyor belt. The sensor performs two duties in its function as post quality inspection on this packaging line. First, the Balluff BCS capacitive sensor detects accurately if a certain fill level in the bottle has been reached. Secondly, it detects if there is a plastic bottle in the carton package at all. If neither, the fill level nor the contents is present, the sensor gives a signal to the PLC.
