BunkerBlock™
Significantly increase the life expectancy of sensors experiencing a high probability of impact and contact damage.
Bunker Block with Prox MountMost sensors are not built to resist imapct, as often occurs during the production process. Balluff Bunker Blocks are specifically designed to protect flush mounted inductive proximity sensors from side or frontal blows, and abrasion.

Using a Balluff Prox Mount that is screwed into the solid aluminum block, the sensor is protected from virtually any type of impact damage and its sensing face can be positioned at exactly the right distance from its target. This allows the sensor to be replaced quickly without losing its optimum sensing location. The block also helps to insulate the sensor from local intermittent high heat.

Bunker Block IINow, with the new Steel Bunker Block II's, even greater protection is possible for the toughest of environments. The Steel Bunker Block II's have keyhole slots for easy alignment during installation, and no positive stop for use with non-flush sensors. Without the need for a Prox Mount, the Bunker Block II is offered in copper-plated or Bunker Block for Photoelectric sensorsblack-anodized steel to resist against rust.

Bunker Blocks are also available to protect photoelectric sensors from impact, particulate matter, and slag spatter.

Bunker Blocks Reduce Downtime and Save Money.
Don’t Believe It?  Ask Our Customers!
Add a block, save a sensor!  Balluff recently completed an overhaul of sensors at a Tier 1 automotive supplier with over 50 welding lines.  We evaluated the needs of the customer through one of our Weld Cell Audits and uncovered significant savings in dollars and time for just one line.

Weld Cell #XX Downtime 2007
 • January  (37 minutes)
 • February  (21 minutes)
 • March  (28 minutes)
 • April  (31 minutes)
Average monthly cost for downtime = 29.25 min. x $425/min. = $12,431

Potential Savings for Weld Cell #XX for balance of 2007

 Downtime losses (May – December) = $12,431 x 8 =

 $99,448

Implementation cost of Balluff protection solution =

 $10,954

 Total Savings =

 $88,494

By equipping sensors with Bunker Blocks and other Weld Select Products, our customer virtually eliminated down time on the line.  The solution paid for itself in about one month, encouraging them to take a close look at other lines where the same changes could be made, eliminating even more cost and unnecessary down time.

Find out how Bunker Blocks from Balluff can lower your costs and raise your weld cell productivity.
