Unique application to sense glass from underneath any non-metallic drive belt.
Objective: Detect the presence of glass along a drive belt, whether the glass is upright or lying flat on the conveyor.
Solution: A compact flat-pack capacitive sensor can be mounted underneath the drive belt to sense the presence of glass for accurate edge and positioning detection. Balluff’s flat-pack sensor SK1-25-50/10-XBX-POM-Y1 has an extended 25 mm sensing range, which allows the sensor to be applied under the drive belt with safety clearance. Another option is mounting the flat-pack sensor upright sideways to detect the presence of glass. This configuration would also allow the sensors to detect the presence or absence of thin film coatings like TCO for error proofing of the glass orientation.
