Miniature Inductive Sensors

Balluff now offers the shortest self-contained inductive proximity sensors in the world. Never before could a fully integrated inductive sensor fit into a space as short as 6mm. Imagine the possibilities of true sensor miniaturization. Now engineers can integrate sensing technology into areas previously too small for conventional sensors. Balluff SuperShorty models offer the capability to install sensors directly into tiny grippers or highly dynamic, fast moving equipment such as rapid pick and place machinery without adversely affecting their performance, size, or weight.

Featured Product
BNS – Mechanical Switch Protection

Build up of weld slag, abrasive dust, dirt, and grime can cause premature failure of mechanical switch plunger/rollers. Balluff BAM Protection Shields are designed to cover the top and sides of the switch housing and guard the plunger/rollers against accumulation of debris.

Cut Your Packaging Downtime - New PMT Article

Find out how to reduce planned downtime using six easy ways to achieve effective sensor application.

Reducing downtime is one of the most effective ways packaging end-users can achieve profitability in today’s highly competitive marketplace. For OEMs to help end-users minimize downtime, they must develop equipment that has the operational flexibility and right technical attributes.

Featured Application
Detection of solar glass in high temperature vacuum

There are two effective solutions for this application.

Solution 1: A diffuse photoelectric laser can be mounted to shoot through a site glass or quartz viewport to detect the glass. A background suppression laser sensor should be used if the far side of the vacuum chamber could false trigger or latch the sensor on.
Product: BOS 18M-PSV-LH22-S4, or see more photoelectric laser sensors.

Solution 2: A high temperature capacitive sensor can be mounted to the top of the vacuum chamber to detect the presence of the glass as it passes and operates at temperatures up to 250 °C (482 °F).
Product: SK-HT250-10-M18-NB-VA/PTFE (sensor), SV-45/30/15-PS (amplifier), SLK-HT (mating cable).
