RFID systems with various read/write ranges, and therefore varying frequency ranges, are used more and more in modern production and assembly installations.

The new BIS V processor unit offers frequency-independent use for the first time, as this controller enables various RFID frequencies to be connected: HF (13.56 MHz) and LF (70...455 kHz). In addition to mixed operation, it is also possible to connect IO-Link-compatible components.

To control the entire material flow

In future, it will be possible to integrate UHF antennas for short ranges. As a result, a single variant of the RFID processor unit is able to trace and control the entire material flow of a company automatically and without interruption – from delivery of the raw material to the finished product.

Important features in detail
Signals are processed cost-effectively by an integrated IO-Link master port

The processor unit includes an integrated IO-Link master port for connecting IO-Link-compatible sensors and actuators as standard. Thanks to the intelligent combination of RFID and sensor technology, it is still possible to process signals cost-effectively using actual identification tasks.

Connection to standard global field bus systems

BIS V processor units are available for standard global bus systems. They offer industry-independent use in a heterogeneous field-bus landscape. Function blocks from many common control-system manufacturers enable the system to be used quickly.

Lower bus and hardware costs – run four read/write heads simultaneously

Up to four read/write heads can be used simultaneously on one processor unit. This reduces bus nodes and hardware costs. All four antenna channels are completely independent of one another.

Simple assembly – in the field and in the control cabinet

The robust metal housing (dimensions: 62 x 168 x 48 mm) offers perfect EMC protection. And it is easy to fit: Using sliders on DIN top-hat rails and using screw tabs on profiles. The easily accessible connections at the front are easy to handle.

Quick commissioning

The integrated USB interface allows for quick commissioning without a bus connection. The read/write heads can be parameterised using a PC-based software tool (BIS Cockpit) independently of the interfaces.

Monitoring

The LCD display assists with simple commissioning and checking throughout the on-going process. Network settings and the unique ID of the data carriers can be read via the display with control keys. Status LEDs signal the bus status. Furthermore, the operating status of each read/write-head connection can be displayed using the LEDs.
