Preliminary Motek 2013 trade fair report

Balluff innovations

At Motek (7th to 10th October 2013) in Stuttgart, Germany, Balluff presents numerous highlights from its range of sensors. For example, the sensor specialist and connectivity provider presents its new BVS-E Universal vision sensor. The multi-talented component's range of applications extends from the assembly and presence check to reading and verifying codes extremely quickly and further to advanced applications such as parts positioning.

The laser light barrier BOS QO8M is also worth seeing. This tiny Balluff product can be located not just in the tiniest of installation spaces but also detects the smallest of parts up to 0.3 mm completely reliably.

The new IO-Link Smart Light from Balluff is the first signal light that can be flexibly adapted to almost any requirement without complex configuration via hardware. The otherwise typical and laborious combination of different-colored modules to form a light is no longer necessary as this device can also be adapted to its new task ad hoc on-the-fly via the controller.

Completely new possibilities are opened up to the IO-Link user with the new bidirectional generation of inductive couplers, which Balluff is likewise exhibiting at Motek. This is the first system worldwide with full IO-Link functionality without any restrictions. Installed in a robust 40x40 housing, the bidirectional inductive coupler is ideal for use anywhere where fixed wiring of sensors and actuators causes a disturbance or is subject to premature wear due to fatigue, such as on turntables and interchangeable tools.
