February 2013: Balluff GmbH received the 2012 Axia Award from Deloitte. The sensor specialist and provider of networking and connectivity solutions for industrial automation was recognized for its successful growth strategy. Every year, the Deloitte consulting agency awards the Axia Award to midsized model com-panies that distinguish themselves as a driving force in Germany thanks to their innovative ability, economic success and agile business activity.
Balluff has made a name for itself as a manufacturer of innovative sensors and expanded its activities into networking and connectivity in recent years. The critical factor for the jury was that Balluff recognized the importance of growth industries like renewable energy early on and quickly utilized the necessities and possibilities of internationalization for its own corporate development. In addition to striving for increased sales, the driving force behind this was the desire for a closer relationship to customers. Furthermore, generating growth by acquiring competitors became a substantially more important factor. One of the jury's reasons included the fact the strengths and weakness of acquisition targets and competitors was well known, since there had already been long-standing contact with those companies in many cases; the acquisitions were not snap decisions.
Award winner with long-term competitive advantages
Aside from Balluff GmbH, Deloitte also recognized three other companies from Baden Württemberg. The 2012 Axia Award winners include Hans Grohe SE, a provider of fixtures, sprayers and shower systems, Carl Edelmann GmbH, a packaging company, and Häfele GmbH und Co. KG, a furniture and hardware fixture company.
