Preliminary report for the Hannover Messe 2014

Balluff at Hannover Messe 2014

The sensor specialist and connectivity provider Balluff will present numerous innovations from its greatly expanded product portfolio at the Hannover Messe (Hall 9, Booth F53). Regardless of whether the topic is distance measurement, object detection, identification, fluid or the industrial networking sector; there is something innovative to discover everywhere.

High-resolution light grid BLA

Balluff has developed a new, high-resolution light grid for optical object detection with a width of 50 mm and a range of up to 2 meters. Consisting of a transmitter with a high-performance red-light laser and a receiver, the device works completely self-sufficiently, without addi-tional accessories such as PC or special software. All settings can be made via a display in the receiver. The high resolution of 0.01 mm opens up many application possibilities. Evaluated are not just the light quantity of the especially homogeneous laser red light, but the location and position within the light grid.

All-rounder vision sensor BVS-E Universal

The new BVS-E Universal vision sensor from Balluff with integral pro-cessing electronics, lighting and two digital outputs is a genuine all-rounder because it combines the functions of the proven BVS-E Ad-vanced and BVS-E Ident vision sensors in a single device. For the first time, a single model is suitable for almost all inspection tasks and simplifies stock management considerably.

Not only can the BVS Universal inspect a large number of characteris-tics in one pass, it can also simultaneously perform various tasks such as checking brightness, comparing contrasts, counting edges, checking positions, detecting patterns and reading codes at speed. New additional tools such as a 360° contour, bar code and data matrix check as well as the option of counting and checking contours offer virtually unlimited application possibilities.

High-performance cables for difficult environments

Wherever connectors and cables are used in the immediate vicinity of welding work, they are subjected to extremely high stress from welding residue such as weld spatter and slag. Conventional versions are not an option in this harsh environment, as they would soon be rendered useless. In these applications, special weld-immune versions provide the solution, such as those just added by Balluff to its BCC product line. With five different flame-proof versions, Balluff covers not just nearly all areas of application, it also fulfills a wide variety of regional requirements worldwide. Therefore, in addition to optical fiber-encased cables there are also stainless steel hose cables like the ones required in press shops and machining applications.

Anyone with still-higher requirements can reach for full silicone, sili-cone-free cables or PTFE cables. As a specialist for especially difficult environments, these will withstand tens of thousands of welding cycles without a problem and this also at high temperatures.
