    The solution

    Inductive couplers are the right choice for automating gripper changing because inductive couplers transfer signals and power contact-free over an air gap. The signal transmission is unaffected by paraffinic release agents.

    Mechanical contacting of contamination sensitive connectors is eliminated, and the robot has a continuous radius of movement of 360 degrees.

    By monitoring the fill height of the waste bins with photoelectric sensors you ensure that they are not overloaded and no hot casting material can fall onto the transport belt.

    Sensors that are subjected to high temperatures come in special protective housings. This increases their service life. At permanently high temperatures up to +160 °C optional water cooling ensures reliable sensor function.

    With our inclination sensors you reliably monitor coverage of the melting oven at all times: both when filling the ovens with raw material and when dumping the melt.

    Using a non-contacting, absolute measuring principle, the inclination sensors detect the angle of moving machine members directly and ensure their correct position. The sensors stand out with their ease of installation and high accuracy. Using an analog switching device, you can also set switchpoints.

    Ultrasonic sensors from Balluff provide contactless measurement of the levels of sand bunkers in the foundry and do it continuously over a detection range of up to 6 m. They remain unaffected by dust or contamination.

    The fill level output can either be an analog signal or a two switching signal output as min./max. value.

    Checking end position on pneumatic cylinders

    The solution

    Bring on the heat, dust and aggressive media – in the harsh conditions of the foundry our magnetic field sensors check whether the robot is correctly gripping the workpiece. They do this by detecting the piston position of the pneumatic cylinder.

    Our small, light IO-Link sensor hubs are especially economical for passing the many sensor signals from the gripper to the controller. The sensor hubs only require unshielded 3-conductor standard or temperature rated PTFE cables.
