Increase asset utilization and decrease non productive time
Pallets, calibration equipment, hand tools, machine tools, molds and dies, etc. are critical assets in most manufacturing plants. When one of these critical assets is not available the result is a delay in production. Unplanned downtime costs organizations hundreds even thousands of dollars per minute.
Tracking assets with RFID technology is a simple and effective method for automatically identifying physical location, usage and maintenance information, calibration data, contents, etc. Rugged RFID tags as small as 6mm in diameter can be placed on the asset. The data mentioned above is then written to the tag and can be read and written to thousands of times to insure the data is current.
The most important assets to an organization can be described as high-value assets. High-value is not to be confused with high-cost. While a high cost asset certainly requires monitoring, high-values assets may be a lower cost to the organization, but need to be readily available because they are critical to the production process.
