They enable you to detect misfeeds, issues with the strip or un-seated blanks or malfunctions immediately, stop the press and prevent collateral damage.     The solution

    Hydraulic presses reach their nominal force over the entire stroke length. Our BTL magnetostrictive linear position sensors reliably handle position monitoring.

    The position magnet is applied to the ram with the position measuring element mounted to a stationary part of the press. The system is resistant to mechanical shocks that may occur. In this way, the high precision and update rates enable you to have optimum machine use.

    Inductive couplers eliminate home run sensor cable damage

    The solution

    To protect expensive die-sets, sensors are frequently integrated into to the tool itself for die protection or in-die sensing. Many people use hard-wired home run cables to connect these sensors to the press control. These connections are easily and regularly damaged causing downtime and repair costs.

    With the inductive BIC couplers from Balluff, the sensors are supplied with power. Moreover, the contact-free system transfers data recorded by the sensors between the tool and press controller. In this way, the system ensures that you can change tools in an automated way, that is, without manual connection of plug connectors.

    The solution

    BAW inductive distance sensors prevent the incorrect delivery with sheet material.

    They monitor whether sheets are double fed and detect the sheet thickness. A continuous output signal or IO-Link is available for this purpose. Depending on the application, requirements for precision and sheet mounting type, one or two sensors are used used mounted from the side, the top or the bottom.
