Long range photoelectric sensor

Dramatically expanding the photoelectric distance sensing portfolio

Balluff is pleased to announce the release of a new family of long distance high resolution photoelectric measuring sensors. This sensor family enhances Balluff's industry leading portfolio of photoelectric sensors, which includes all standard sensing modes, miniature sensors and a wide variety of housing sizes and materials. Configuration can be accomplished from the integrated pushbuttons for teachable set-points, hysteresis and response time. Utilizing time-of-flight measurement technology, the sensor is very reliable with & tolerant of difficult to target surfaces and materials.

"The long distance photoelectric measuring sensor (BOD 37M) family satisfies the increasing demand for precise optical measurement with a sensing range up to 20 meters and a resolution of 1mm," shares Jack Moermond, Balluff Inc Photoelectric Product Marketing Manager. "In addition, the universal version has an integrated display that displays the distance in millimeters." The standard version is available in either voltage or current analog output while the universal version has both analog outputs, RS485 and two configurable discrete outputs.

Installation and integration are simple with the teach pushbuttons which translates to cost savings for machine builders and manufacturers in a wide variety of industries from automotive, material handling, machine tool and packaging to factory automation.

  • Reliable measurement regardless of surface with time of flight technology
  • Quick and easy installation with pushbutton teach versus teach wires
  • Measuring ranges up to 20 meters with 1mm resolution
  • Rugged and compact metal housing with IP67 rating
