Simplify analog device integration with IO-Link
Analog devices are widely used in factory automation controls architectures. Typically, analog devices require dedicated cards in controls cabinets, connected by long runs of shielded cables from sensor to controller.
Our family of single channel analog interface modules simplify configuration and integration of analog devices by interfacing with IO-Link. These modules are fully configurable for signal type and resolution to convert a variety of analog input data such as current, voltage, and RTD/thermocouple measurement to digital equivalent values. Having IO-Link onboard makes enhanced diagnostic information available, including device temperature and short-circuits, and simplifies device configuration.
Balluff is introducing four second-generation, single channel analog-to-IO-Link interface modules:
- BNI00C9 - Analog input conversion of input data like current, voltage and RTDs
- BNI00C7 - Analog input for temperature measurement sensors, Type J, Type K, or RTDs
- BNI00C8 - Analog output module with voltage or current output configurations
- BNI00C6 - Universal analog module, configure as either an analog input or analog output
These modules further simplify installations by eliminating analog in-chassis interface boards and reducing additional analog network blocks. IO-Link lets you replace lengthy shielded cable runs with basic unshielded cables. The inline design and 18mm standard sensor size allows you to install the modules using off-the-shelf mounting hardware in compact spaces.
These interface modules support a wide range of analog sensors, including 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire types. The analog output module can supply up to 1.4A of power in voltage output mode to drive a wide range of high power pneumatic or hydraulic controls.
