Long range Industrial RFID system
Long range Industrial RFID system

Long-range traceability

BIS U is a long range system that operates at the FCC approved standard frequency of 902-928mHz. The U system can read tags up to 6m away. Like the M system, there are U tags designed for high temperature applications of up to 220°C. This system is common for addressing logistics or work in process (WIP) applications that may require a read range greater than 1ft.

Quite possibly the most versatile passive RFID system available, UHF can address a myriad of applications. This is in part due to its flexible read ranges, high-speed reading and multi-tagging capability.

The most important benefits

  • Global standard ISO 18000-6C and EPC Gen2 Class1
  • Read ranges from a couple centimeters up to 6 m and more
  • Capable of reading multiple tags at once
  • Can interface with PC or PLC

System components

  • UHF data carriers (860/960 MHz)

Reliably readable tags for harsh environments

Data carriers, or "tags", label the object to be identified and furnish it with additional information. This information can be read, written, and saved using a password. The data carriers can store product, process and quality data to provide reliable information about the product life cycle.

Our modern UHF data carriers conform to the highest industrial requirements. They are built to withstand high temperatures, humidity, chemicals, and still reliably detect even in metal surroundings.

In contrast to bar codes, RFID tags are also readable without optical line of sight and are therefore resistant to soiling. The required energy for the passive data carriers is inductively coupled by the read/write head or derived from the electromagnetic wave radiated by the antenna.

    UHF data carriers (860/960 MHz)
  • UHF read/write heads and antennas (860/960 MHz)

    Communication via the air interface

Our UHF read/write heads and antennas are scalable. This allows you to design and implement your own identification system, which may include conveyor lines or gates. Many different versions are available for different detection ranges and applications. The range depends on the combination of read/write head or antenna, the data carrier, and on the configuration of the processor unit.

    • Rugged housings up to IP67 ensure reliable use in harsh environments
    • Status indicators directly on the read/write head for easy commissioning and minimal downtimes
    • Auto-Set-Up function for commissioning and configuring the read/write head in seconds
    • Connection via coaxial cable (up to 10 m) or M12 plug connector with cable length up to 50 m
    • Circular polarization for large data carriers. Detection independent of position
    • Read ranges up to 6 m and more possible
    • Read/write head and antennas mountable directly on metal
    • Up to four read/write heads can be connected to the BIS V processor units
    • Up to four antennas can be connected to the BIS U-602x processor units
