Balluff's capacitive sensors are not only superior in object and level detection applications, but they are also highly specialized for a wide range of challenging applications. The capacitive sensors consists of high temperature and pressure ratings, stainless steel and PTFE housings for harsh environments, a wide supply voltage range and especially compact form factors.
Balluff capacitive sensors are ideal for presence detection of nonmetallic objects and levels of granulates, powders, viscous media or liquids, whether conductive water-based or non-conductive fluids such as oil.
The industry standard capacitive sensors are M12 to M30 tubular housings. However, small parts detection or installations in tight mounting spaces require smaller form factors, therefore Balluff developed a capacitive product line that offers a large selection of sizes and form factors including miniature remote amplified versions.
Capacitive object detection sensors from Balluff employ a straight-line electrical field which is optimized for detection of solid bodies (e.g. wafers, PCBs, cartons, paper stacks, bottles, plastic blocks and plates) and liquid level detection through non-metallic container walls made of glass and plastic (thickness max. 4 mm).
Capacitive sensors for level detection use a spherical field to detect the product, bulk material or liquid (e.g. plastic granulate, sugar, oil, aqueous media) directly or through a container wall.
Balluff's patented hybrid capacitive technology sensor series detects water-based conductive media through thick glass and plastic walls while compensating for moisture, foam and material build-up.
Need to detect and monitor fill levels in containers, pipes, or tanks while in contact with the media? This is not a problem for our capacitive level sensors with media contact. These detect the fill level of granulated materials, powders, viscous, or liquid media, as well as bulk materials. They are suitable for a wide variety of applications, as they are available in a wide range of versions, including:cylindrical configurations, immersion probes, hole or flange mounting, and in pressure-rated versions are available with a wide variety of plug and cable variants. In addition, their diverse range of housing materials, such as stainless steel, PTFE, and PEEK, ensure the best possible chemical resistance.

Need to detect and monitor fill levels in containers, pipes, or tanks without contacting the media through non-metallic container walls? This is not a problem for our capacitive level sensors without media contact. These devices detect the fill level of liquids and bulk materials to deliver reliable results.

The capacitive sensors from Balluff are available in various configurations, with a wide variety of plug and cable options. Choose from switching or analog output or with IO-Link interface. Particularly economical versions are also available.
At Balluff, your requirements determine our range of products. Our portfolio includes capacitive sensors specifically for high technical requirements, such as for high pressure or temperatures. As self-adhering variants, they adapt very easily to the surface they are to be attached to in a flexible manner. Housing materials such as stainless steel, plastic, or PTFE make them ideal for use in tough environments. For use at extremely high temperatures or when space is limited, we offer sensor heads with remote electronics. These can also be installed in hard-to-reach places and fine-tuned easily. Since their amplifiers are available with switching or analog output, or with IO-Link interface, you can use the sensors across a wide range of applications. For example, depending on which output you choose, you can use it to detect a limit level or continuous fill level detection.
Wherever a sensor with integrated electronics would not work optimally due to its environment, the capacitive sensor heads from Balluff offer you the precision to keep your system running. These are suitable for detecting liquid, paste-like, and powdery media – in direct contact or even through up to 4 mm thick container walls made of glass and plastic.
Thanks to the compact design, our solutions work exceptionally well in tight spaces, due to the electronics being separated from the sensor head.
Choose between versions in PTFE or stainless steel housings, for use in extreme temperatures and high pressure. Also available is the amplifier with either a switching or analog output or an IO-Link interface. This will effectively solve your individual requirements.
Balluff remote amplifiers enable our capacitive sensor heads to be setup and evaluated easily. Compact evaluation units with switching signals, analog values, or IO-Link functionality for top-hat rail mounting are available for this purpose.
Adjustable beyond critical environments, various setting options provide extended functionality for almost all capacitive sensor heads from Balluff.
