Automated workpiece transport and traceability in the machining and assembly process

Traceability of production and assembly parts

In the machining and assembly process of workpieces, complete traceability is required in order to manufacture reliably and in high quality. At the same time, the workpieces are to be automatically transported to their destination in accordance with the next manufacturing steps.

With RFID, automated workpiece feeding is achieved by placing data carriers on the workpiece itself. In addition to automated transport, the advantages lie in particular in seamless documentation. Each work step of the machining or assembly process is stored on the data carrier. Even work steps that immediately precede or immediately follow the manufacturing process can be precisely recorded and used for optimized resource management.

The RFID system BIS M is ideally suited for this purpose. The industrial read/write heads stand for reliable reading performance and consistent error prevention, even on metal. They are powerful and easily handle large volumes of data. Even at long ranges.

The data carriers are available in different versions - for example in the form of a data screw. Thanks to their robustness, data screws are used in manufacturing processes where lubricants or chips make processing difficult. They can also be used in washing systems and vacuum dryers.

  • Reliable identification in metallic environments
  • Data carriers in special designs, such as screws for optimum fastening to the workpiece
  • Decentralized data storage directly on the workpiece
