Driving dynamics control and load detection with RFID for automated transport vehicles

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are indispensable for the internal flow of materials. They ensure that necessary production materials reach their destination automatically over long distances and with a high degree of personal safety.

RFID systems offer successful concepts for driving dynamics control and position recognition to meet individual requirements in the best possible way. Driving dynamics can be controlled with data carriers embedded in the floor. Vehicles brake perfectly in curves and accelerate optimally on straight stretches. In addition, data carriers ensure that the parking position, unloading and loading position, avoidance position and loading position are correctly identified. At the same time, the RFID system provides information on the location of individual AGVs. This means that deployment and utilization are known at all times. In addition, read/write units on the AGV can identify the data carriers of loads and containers and thus provide information about the transported materials.

The use of BIS M read/write heads in a large design ensures long reading ranges so that the data carriers are detected smoothly despite their distance from the ground. The fast transfer speed of the BIS M systems enables data to be transferred in passing.
