Michael Unger receives Hungarian business award

Recognition for 30 years of dedication in Hungary

Michael Unger receives Hungarian business award

The Hungarian Ministry of Finance presents the Hungarian business award to Michael Unger for his service in building up the Balluff location in Hungary. Balluff-Elektronika Kft. in Veszprém in western Hungary was founded 30 years ago.

This is a first-rank distinction: The Republic of Hungary is honoring Michael Unger, Managing Director and spokesman for the management board of Balluff GmbH, with the Hungarian business award. Mihály Varga, Hungary's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, presented the certificate of honor to Unger on October 23, 2019 during a ceremony in the Hungarian capital Budapest. Unger received the honor for his service in building up and expanding the Balluff location in Hungary. Today, Balluff-Elektronika Kft. in Veszprém in western Hungary has 877 employees and is the largest production and second-largest Research and Development location of Balluff worldwide.

An award for everyone

"I am very happy about this award and will gladly pass it on to my Balluff colleagues in Veszprém," Unger said. "Because this honor belongs to all who have worked over the past 30 years to make this location what it is: a central component in Balluff's global plant network and an important employer and partner in the region." Unger has accompanied the development of this location since he began at Balluff in 1991 and played a crucial role in shaping it to this day. As chairman of the board of the Hungarian subsidiary Balluff-Elektronika Kft., today he is directly integrated into the decision-making processes at the location.

A long-term perspective

At the awards ceremony there was also special mention of the production hall that opened in Csetény in March of this year. "For us, the opening is another testament to the location in Hungary and the results of a good cooperation between Balluff, the local community and the Hungarian Ministry of National Development and Economy," Unger said. And with the selection of Csetény, located 25 miles north of Veszprém, Balluff is bolstering its position as an attractive employer in the region. "Instead of bringing the employees over long distances to our location, we provide workplaces and a long-term career perspective here, where our employees are living with their families."

Research cooperation with the University of Pannonia

The honor of the Hungarian business award was bestowed not only because of Balluff's role as an important employer in the region. Hungary is also particularly honoring the cooperation that Balluff initiated with the University of Pannonia, which has its seat in Veszprém and has existed since 1994. Together with the university, Balluff is developing research, development and training programs in the areas of sensors and automation. "Our collaboration with the University of Pannonia does more than strengthen the regional research landscape; the programs also underscore the attractiveness of Balluff as an innovative employer and support us in our search for and recruitment of highly skilled young engineering talent," Unger said in conclusion.
