Which cable sheath is best suited to my application?
PVC cables
Cables with a PVC sheath are mostly used in the food industry or in wet areas. Compared to PUR cables, PVC cables are not as resistant to mechanical stress, but have good resistance to chemicals. PVC cables are generally the cheapest.
PUR cables
Cables with a PUR sheath can withstand high mechanical loads. They can be used in drag chains, for example, as they can withstand several million bending cycles. As PUR cables are also highly resistant to oils and chemicals, they are often used in the automation industry.
TPE cables
Thermoplastic elastomers are characterized by high elasticity and flexibility, but also by high strength and resistance. They also offer high resistance to oils or bio-oils. Compared to PUR, the TPE cable sheath has a higher resistance to UV radiation and a wider temperature range, making it suitable for outdoor applications.

These relative ratings are based on average performance.

Other cable materials
Balluff also offers cables with FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) jackets, mainly for high or extreme temperature applications, and silicone cable jackets for welding applications.
