Multi-Camera Systems for Machine Vision and Monitoring
Multiple Perspectives for Reliable Inspection and Process Monitoring
Multi-camera systems combine multiple cameras to capture objects, processes, or equipment areas simultaneously from different perspectives or at different positions. They are used when a single camera is not sufficient to fully capture complex geometries, multiple product sides, large fields of view, or different areas of a production line. By combining multiple perspectives, they improve inspection quality, reduce blind spots, and increase process reliability in industrial automation applications.
Typical applications range from multi-view inspections and large-area inspection tasks to multi-lane production lines and machine and process monitoring. Compared with single-camera solutions, however, system complexity increases significantly. Additional hardware, higher data volumes, and greater effort for synchronization, cabling, and integration increase costs and make conventional multi-camera systems more difficult to implement.
