Report temperature and save costs during cell finalization
IO-Link hubs for efficient monitoring and integration of temperature sensors
During cell finalization, especially during cell aging in high temperature cabinets, accurate temperature monitoring is crucial to ensure the performance and lifetime of the battery cells. During this phase, which can last several weeks, either PT100/1000 sensors or other common temperature sensors such as thermocouples or NTC thermistors are used to detect temperature fluctuations and provide important data for quality assurance.
Our BNI IO-Link hubs enable the simple digitization of these analogue signals and their efficient forwarding to the IO-Link master and ultimately to the PLC. IO-Link thus simplifies the acquisition and digital transmission of temperature signals and reduces hardware costs by up to 20 % on average. These savings result from less cabling and lower maintenance costs, without compromising data quality.
In addition to Profinet, the BNI IO-Link hubs also support other common industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, which facilitates integration into existing systems and optimizes monitoring. During the charging and forming of the battery cells, the hubs are also used to digitally connect sensors and actuators to relays and solenoid valves.
