Balluff Opens Chengdu Technical Innovation Center
Advancing Local Engineering Excellence and Innovation in China
Official opening ceremony of the Technical Innovation Center in Chengdu, which offers modern laboratory and office space spanning around 400 square meters.
Balluff, the sensor and automation specialist, officially inaugurated the Balluff Chengdu Technical Innovation Center at its manufacturing site in Chengdu, China. The opening marks an important milestone in the Balluff Group’s continued investment in its global innovation and engineering capabilities and reinforces its commitment to serving local as well as internationally operating customers with high-performance solutions and close-to-market expertise.

Enhancing engineering capabilities close to the customer
Since the Chengdu plant was established in 2004, the Balluff Group has steadily expanded its manufacturing presence through successive stages of development.
Co-located within the existing manufacturing facility, the Chengdu Technical Innovation Center encompasses approximately 400 square meters of dedicated laboratory and office space.
The center will focus on product engineering for sensor technologies, including inductive sensors and linear transducers, as well as connectivity and industrial networking. By combining engineering expertise, manufacturing know-how, and proximity to customers, Balluff aims to accelerate development cycles and deliver solutions precisely aligned with local market requirements.
In close collaboration with our technology centers in Germany and Hungary, the Chengdu Technical Innovation Center helps us support our customers even better. Our goal is to be as close as possible to their needs and to offer them not only strong sales and service on site, but also the technological expertise needed to develop the right solutions together.

Part of a global technology network
Worldwide, more than 500 employees work in the Balluff technology team on innovations, new products and further developments for automation.
With the establishment of the Chengdu Technical Innovation Center, Balluff is investing EUR 15 million over five years to further expand its global engineering network. In its initial phase, the center will employ around 25 local developers, with the team expected to grow to more than 50 positions in the years ahead.

The Chengdu plant is one of Balluff’s three major high-volume production sites, alongside the facilities in Veszprém, Hungary, and Aguascalientes, Mexico.
