Welcome to the new home for high-end opto-sensor technology
Our new building in Munich creates space for innovation, collaboration, and growth.
Today, Balluff Munich officially opens its new competence center in the Munich metropolitan area – an important milestone for the sensor technology specialist and the entire Balluff Group. Covering a total area of 1,750 square meters, this forward-looking location combines technological innovation, sustainability, and modern working practices.

The new building not only impresses with its open and agile architecture, but also meets the highest standards in terms of sustainability and digitalization. It has been awarded the DGNB Gold certificate and also carries the WiredScore PLATINUM certification – a sign of excellent digital infrastructure and connectivity.
Balluff Munich has been based in the Munich area since 1989 (formerly as STM GmbH) and was integrated into the internationally active Balluff Group in 2014. Since then, the location has developed into an important pillar within the company network.
Around 50 employees develop both customer-specific optical sensors and standard optical sensors for a wide range of industrial applications – from automation technology to sophisticated measuring systems.
“The continuous development of our optoelectronic sensors and measuring systems – also driven by developments with our globally leading customers – is a central component of our success,” explains site manager Dr. Michael Greif.
With the new competence center, we are creating the ideal conditions for driving innovation, growing, and equipping our customers worldwide with state-of-the-art sensor technology.
Dr. Michael Greif, Site manager, Balluff Munich
The new building marks the next logical step in the development of Balluff Munich and underscores the strategic importance of the location within the group of companies. As a competence center for optoelectronic technologies, Munich will play an even stronger role in Balluff's global innovation strategy in the future.
