The challenge of IIoT integration for industrial companies
Data diversity in the OT landscape
Old systems usually do not have standardized data formats or interfaces, compared to new systems, which are often already equipped with compatible digital interfaces. This leads to an inconsistent and often isolated data landscape, which makes efficient use and integration into modern IT structures more difficult.
Problems with data quality and formats
In many industrial environments, existing data is often incomplete, missing completely or in unstructured formats. These problems with data quality make it difficult to precisely analyze and effectively use the information. In order to be able to use this data, it first has to be laboriously collected, normalized and contextualized.
Skills gaps and resource bottlenecks
The digital transformation poses major challenges for many companies. There is often a lack of specific expertise, the costs of technology and implementation are high, and the time pressure is enormous. These factors slow down and complicate the development and implementation of IIoT projects.
With the Asset Data Provider (ADP), Balluff offers an integrative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to accelerate digitization projects.
ADP is a software solution for the acquisition, pre-processing and provision of data to IIoT applications, which are generated by industrial assets such as machines, systems and sensors at the OT level.
Balluff goes one step further: In addition to data generation and transport with our products, we also enable cross-manufacturer data pre-processing at the edge level.
Why ADP?
Low barriers and easy development of data workflows
Bridge data silos with horizontal and vertical integrations
Scalability using future-proof infrastructure
Low total cost of ownership (TCO)
Everything you need: ADP Cloud
The ADP Cloud is your digital touchpoint to create, manage and optimize efficient and intelligent data flows of your assets.
Module library
The ADP library offers a variety of modules that have been specially developed to collect, analyze and process data from IIoT applications and is being continuously expanded. In addition to data connectors, it also contains modules for analyses and data transformation and processing.
Simple configuration
With ADP's low-code approach, it is possible to select modules from the library and combine them simply using drag-and-drop. This enables users without in-depth programming knowledge to create, test and implement workflow quickly and easily.
Test environment
To test the functionality of data streams, you can use the sandbox or connect to an ADP Edge Node. Check the output of the workflows you create in this test environment.
Workflow templates
Save your created workflows as templates to be able to use them more quickly later.
Lifecycle management
ADP enables the management of data workflows and simplifies one-click and mass deployments.
Enterprise management
Here you can manage access rights efficiently, perform version control and store sensitive access data securely in the Credentials Vault.
Everything you need: ADP Edge
ADP Edge acts as a powerful edge node in your system and enables seamless and efficient data processing in real time and at the point of origin. It can be operated as a Docker container on an edge gateway, as one option, which ensures a flexible and scalable implementation.
Runtime for data workflows
ADP Edge is the runtime for your data pipeline, which you install as a Docker container on the Linux operating system. ADP Edge processes the available data directly at the data source in real time and analyzes up to 100,000 messages in real time.
Hybrid-first approach
Full cloud migration rarely makes sense. A hybrid architecture offers advantages in terms of network and storage costs, latency and security. The ADP Control Center enables flexible installation of nodes in the cloud, on the premises, on the factory floor or at the edge.
IO-Link plug-and-play
ADP enables manufacturer-independent and central commissioning, configuration and parameterization of IO-Link masters and devices according to the IO-Link standard for sensors and actuators.
Successful uses in industry
Thanks to its versatile application options and effective performance, ADP has proven itself in various areas of industry.
Retrofit: Getting IIoT-ready quickly and cost-effectively
Easily overcome multiple machine landscapes and incompatible data formats with IO-Link sensors and ADP to enable seamless IIoT integration.
Predictive maintenance
ADP solves the problem of integrating incompatible machine data for predictive maintenance of machines.
Integration of the ERP system into the machine landscape
Increase production output in packaging lines by 30% through seamless integration of the ERP system. This increases efficiency, reduces errors and improves traceability.
