Balluff adds IP69K photoelectric sensors with condition monitoring capabilities

Four new sensors grow the Balluff BOS R254K portfolio from four to eight. They were designed for demanding applications, especially those found in the food industry and packaging sector where aggressive media and high pressure are used for cleaning. They have Ecolab certification as well as IP67 and IP69K ratings. In addition, these sensors have passed what Balluff calls Washdown Plus testing, which simulates over 1,000 washdown cycles.

The new additions are three diffuse sensors with background suppression and one retroreflective sensor with a polarizing filter.

Diffuse sensor with background suppression

• BOS02C2 — Laser (red light); 500 mm sensing range

• BOS02C3 — Diffuse sensor with background suppression; LED (red light); 250 mm sensing range

• BOS02C4 — Diffuse sensor with background suppression; LED (red light); 500 mm sensing range

Retroreflective sensor with polarizing filter

• BOS02C0 — Retroreflective sensor with polarizing filter; laser (red light); 8 m sensing range on reflector BOS R-22

The sensors are part of Balluff’s Smart Automation and Monitoring System (SAMS). All new SAMS products, including these new photoelectric sensors, are self-monitoring, providing internal environmental data in real time via IO-Link, including:

• Temperature

• Humidity

• Vibration

• Inclination

• Contamination

• Function reserve

The sensor’s signal quality is displayed on LEDs on the sensor, and operating hours and time functions are available using IO-Link.
