Magnetic field sensors
Contactless and reliable position feedback
Magnetic field sensors are mainly used for selective or continuous monitoring of the piston position on cylinders and grippers. The sensor detects the field of the magnet integrated in the piston through the actuator wall.
With their non-contact position detection, the magnetic field sensors from Balluff are absolutely reliable and wear-free: no contact erosion, no bouncing and only clean measurement. The piston position is reliably detected even at high travel speeds.
Our extensive portfolio of magnetic field sensors
Cylinder sensors for multiple slot shapes
Wear-free, precise, and quick to install—ideal for grippers, pneumatic cylinders, and pull rod cylinders. Suitable for various groove shapes, with a permanent switching point.
Single-connector version with two BMF magnetic field sensors
Compact single-plug solution with two magnetic field sensors for traction armature diameters up to 17 mm. Provides precise switching points, operates wear-free, and remains reliable even when dirty.
Cylindrical magnetic field sensors
Extremely compact and powerful. Detects positions up to 90 mm, even through containers or pipes. Insensitive to dirt and vibration, suitable for different magnet polarizations.
Magnetic field sensors with adjustable switchpoints
Individually adjustable – up to eight switching points can be taught via IO-Link and are securely stored even in the event of a power failure. Flexible mounting, ideal for cylinders and grippers with a long reach.
Magnetic field positioning systems
Modular, precise, and networked – for cylinder strokes up to 256 mm. With IO-Link, analog output, and high EMC for reliable position measurement and smart process monitoring.
